Hibiscus drink, also known as Sorrel, is generally prepared during Fall and consumed over the holidays or year round. It has a tart fruity taste profile somewhat similar to the taste of cranberries. The preparation of the drink is similar to making a mulled cider/beverage with hot water and infused with spices. The drink can be had hot or cold, sweetened or unsweetened, with or without alcohol.
To use, steep contents in 32 oz boiling water for 6 – 10 minutes. Strain and sweeten to taste with preferred sweetener. Serve hot or cold with optional alcohol such as whiskey, vodka, rum, port wine.
